What is Surge Voltage?
Surge Voltage found in Ac power line, Tele communication and
Antenna/CATV/MATV Coaxial lines is caused by the following:
- By direct lightning.
- By grounding fault.
- From magnetic induction.
- By induced lightning.
- By switching operation.
- From electrostatic induction.
What is EMI/RFI?
EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) & RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) are caused by heaby duty home equipment, fluorescent lights and radio signals picked up by home wiring. They may cause interference in expensive equipment such as TV’s and also poor performance in computers.
How does Surge Protection work in our products?
When Surge/Spike Voltage (6,000V) and Current (4,500A) pass through the MOV (Varistor) in our products, the Varistor will absorb the Voltage and Current and open a way to our outlets within a very short time.
When the Voltage and Current is too high, in one nano second, MOV will transmit 330V (for US standard) or 400V (for European standard) to thermal fuse at the back of product. At this moment the thermal fuse will be burned-out, so as the block the connection between our products and high-tech electronic facilities or elements.
If the protection is effected then you should replace it with a new one.
If surge voltage or current is not too high that MOV and thermal fuse are not burnet-out, you may continue to use the same product.
As a reminder, the more MOV’s in our product, the higher performance in surge protection you will get (See Joules rating of the product that best describe the level of protection). So we suggest that you to buy products with more joules to get more production for your equipment.
